Educator profile
Ms. Julia
Certified Korean Teacher (K–12)
Hello! My name is Julia, and I am a passionate Korean language educator with over 13 years of teaching experience in both online and in-person classrooms.
I was born and raised in South Korea in an international family where both Korean and English were part of daily life. Growing up in a bilingual and multicultural home gave me a unique understanding of the joys and challenges that come with learning and maintaining more than one language. Because of this background, I deeply understand bilingual and multilingual families and the unique language journeys their children experience.
I completed my elementary, middle, and high school education in South Korea and later moved to the United States to pursue my Master of Education in Foreign Language Education at Rutgers University. I hold New Jersey state certifications in Teaching Korean (K–12) and Teaching English as a Second Language (K–12). My teaching style is communicative, engaging, and student-centered. I believe language learning should be meaningful, practical, and enjoyable. My classes focus on helping students build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing through interactive activities, real-life conversations, and cultural exploration.
As a multilingual speaker of Korean, English, Japanese, and a learner of French, I personally understand the process of language acquisition from both the teacher’s and learner’s perspectives. I have also traveled to more than 10 countries, which has deepened my appreciation for language, culture, and global connections.
As a parent of an elementary-aged child whom I am raising in a multilingual environment, I understand the goals, concerns, and hopes that parents have for their children’s language development. I know how important it is to create a learning space where children feel understood, encouraged, and confident. This personal experience allows me to connect with young learners and support them with both professional expertise and genuine understanding.
Whether your child is learning Korean for the first time, connecting with family heritage, or exploring Korean culture through language, I would be honored to be part of their learning journey. Thank you for considering my classes, and I look forward to meeting your learner!
